Can I use Skytel Suisse from a mobile device?

Yes. All services can be used from any web-enabled mobile device, including tablets and mobile phones. There is no software to install or required 'apps'. The Skytel Suisse Network and its' services are optimized for mobile devices.

What knowledge of encryption do I need?

None. The Skytel Suisse network manages all the encryption and security related functions automatically.

Will I have service in my country?

If you can view this SkyTel Availability Test, service is available in your country. Skytel Suisse cannot guarantee service. Some countries that practice web filtering, like China, may block services at will, and without notice. Skytel Suisse does not offer refunds for service loss as a result of the intervention of a country.

Is the network and client data actually physically in Switzerland?

Yes. Our network and your data are in Zurich, Switzerland.

Does either party need to install software to make Skytel Suisse services work?

No. Skytel Suisse users only need a web enabled device with a web browser and an email account.

Is it possibile to verify that data is encrypted on the system?

Yes.

Are there mobile apps for the services?

No, they are not required. In addition, mobile apps are very convenient but are extremely vulnerable to security flaws inherent to each mobile device. To ensure the security of your data and our network, Skytel Suisse has no plans for mobile apps.

What people and entities have access to client data such as SkyText messages and network communications traffic?

Only the client has access to the unencrypted data. Skytel Suisse personnel do not. The Skytel Suisse network is designed this way. Client data is stored in an encrypted state until it is decrypted by an authorized user. The keys and passwords necessary to decrypt the data are always with the user and not with Skytel Suisse.

What countries or national governments have jurisdiction over data on the Skytel Suisse network?

Switzerland.

Why does the Skytel Suisse domain end in .ch ?

'.ch' is the domain extension for Switzerland. A domain extension determines the nation which has ultimate authority over a website. For example the Italian government has authority over '.it' sites and the U.S. government has authority over any '.com' or '.net' sites.

Are there restrictions to the type of clients you accept?

Yes. In accordance with international agreements to prevent facilitating wrongful activities and to avoid the misuse or abuse of our system, there are restrictions on the type of clients we may accept. Read more here..

How is it that your personnel cannot access my account or data?

The Skytel Suisse system does not store your passwords. It stores a representation of your passwords called a hash. This will not allow our personnel, or anyone, access to your data without the original password.

Do Skytel Suisse SkyText services use the encrypted PDF method?

No. Encrypted PDF are very convenient but extremely insecure. PDF encryption is only intended as a weak deterrent. If a PDF encrypted document is intercepted, it will not take long to decrypt. Links [1] [2] [3] [4]

How are allegations of system abuse handled?

We inform the client of the allegations and the authorities originating the allegations. We then internally review the allegations and give the client an opportunity to respond. Please note that, we accept complaints of abuse from all authorities, regardless of the originating nation. However, we comply with requests from Swiss authorities. As a matter of responsibility, multiple complaints of abuse of our system or network by non-Swiss authorities may compel us to suspend client accounts until the matter can be resolved with the client.
